Ignite Chair, Pete Easwtood, was only in the role a few days before COVID-19 hit with a crash and a bang, but he's been rocking it behind the scenes juggling Ignite support work with his day job as an advisor for Loan Market Queenstown, Wanaka and Central Otago, while juggling home life like most of us. Hear more about Pete's lockdown story below.
𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗰𝗼-𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗳𝗳? (𝗯𝘂𝗯𝗯𝗹𝗲) 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼-𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗳𝗳? My wife, 2 sons and dog 🐶 . We both usually work a lot from home anyway, and one of our sons is home schooled, so it’s just the one rogue 9-year-old who is keeping us entertained (perhaps distracted). So far, so good.👍 👍
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻? Spending quality time 🕛 with the kids and making sure it does not involve technology. 📱 ❌
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴? Spending quality time with the kids and making sure it does not involve technology - no mistake with the same answer there! 😆 😆
Sunrise🌄 dog🐶 runs (I’m usually rushing out the door, so I’m really enjoying these), more exercise with my crazy exercise wife
A plethora of never ending games 🎲 🎯 with the kids. I’m working all hours, but taking active breaks with the family, as I try to avoid the overwhelm.
I thought I might read a book 📚 … not very successful just yet.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝘁𝗶𝗽 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆?
🕥 🕥 Routine is great, especially with kids. For me, this involves getting out for some time out alone to clear the mind, quality time together having fun (no work) and keeping on top of the domestic jobs (my wife may laugh at me for trying to claim this).
💬 Communicate with those close to you, talk through how you are feeling, don’t drink too much and stay calm when the kids go into a lockdown breakdown.

🤗 Look after yourself and make sure you are in the right head space to deal with the challenges we are facing. Remember it is a ‘give and take’ situation and ensure you are taking both perspectives into account before making decisions or reacting.
💑 Support your family and loved ones.
☎️ Stay connected with your staff and let them know where to go if they are feeling stressed and need support.
💪 We need everyone to pull through this in the strongest way possible, but know that no-one is alone, and there are loads of emotional, mental and financial support options out there, so make sure you and your staff know where to find these.
